This Experience

I’m leaving the hospital this evening for the second time today.

This experience has had me treating severe malaria twice…

This second one courtesy of the recovery room post-op.

The room I stayed in afterwards was devoid of mosquitoes and so I thought I’d escaped… How wrong I was.

What my cousin tells me is that the recovery room had a whole swarm of them!

Almost.like they’d been waiting.

The irony is that the recovery room was upstairs, while my private room was downstairs.

Again, I am thankful for rapid diagnosis and prompt commencement of treatment.

Plus, my white cell counts are bouncing back up… now halfway on the normal range.

One heartbreaking story though…

I learned that the case that was taken to theater earlier today is a 10 year old boy with a large brain tumor that caused enough pressure to affect his vision.

Neoplasms have no shame and can target anyone.

The silver lining is that they got it all out!

Let’s pray he pulls through the recovery period and that the histology brings back a benign result.
